Consulate in Chennai Establishes Web-Based Appointment System for Non-immigrant Visa Applicants

February 14, 2002 - The Department of State has announced that it has now established a web-based appointment system for non-immigrant visa applicants at Consulate in Chennai, India. The system, which is already in use at the consulates in New Delhi and Mumbai, is designed to permit applicants for non-immigrant visas (such as L-1, H-1B, and B categories) to schedule appointments for visa interviews through the website at www.ttvisas.com.

Advance appointments will become mandatory starting on March 4, 2002 for those applicants who are not eligible to use the consulate's "Drop-Box" or "Business Express" programs. There is no additional fee for setting up these appointments. This is part of the consulate's on-going effort to improve the quality of customer service to applicants in south India, and to help fulfill Ambassador Blackwill's promise to reduce long visa lines.
